Ten years ago

“Are you in there!” I called out and opened the door to his room without waiting for an answer. Poking my head in, my face lit up at the sight of my crush Christoff. “There you are!”

Turning around with a frown, he pulled a shirt on as I closed the door. “Gianna? What are you –”

“I have been looking everywhere for you. The guys on your football team said they saw you heading up to the dorms.” I dropped my book bag to the floor next to his bed and sat down, pulling a pink book out my bag. “I wanted to show you something. Don’t judge alright.”

“Gianna –”

“Come and sit.” I got up and walked over to him, pulling on his arm and walking back towards the bed. “Lucy on the cheerleading squad said she didn’t think Photoshop was my thing and your sister being the bitch she is–I’m sorry–gave me the task of sorting the photos for the Signore yearbook committee. It’s so stupid.”

“Gianna, I don’t think you realize –”

“‘That Maja is your sister and I have to respect her’, but she can be so snobby about the whole media thing she is so into. I’m sorry.” Pushing him on the bed, I sat next to him and placed the book on his lap. “Don’t be mad please. I won’t call your sister that again.”

I kissed him again, this time taking longer to move my lips from his. Staring at him as he looked at me with disbelief, I blushed and tucked my hair behind my ears. Shy and nervous as hell for what I had really searched Christoff out for.

Watching him stare at me, he cleared his throat. “Look, you know you’re not allowed in the boys side of the dorm after five. Gianna you have –”

“I know, but I really need to be here. I …” I swallowed, nervous. “I know your brother won’t be back until eight. He went with the group to the mall, right?”

“Yeah. I was supposed to go.” He narrowed his eyes at me, and I knew he was looking at the ‘little girl’ he was always calling me. “Why are you here? I’m sure it’s not for some photos for the senior students.”

He got up and moved to sit around the work desk between his bed and his brothers’. “No. That’s not why I’m here.” I whispered and blushed again. “I wanted to ask you something. It’s really important and I want it to be you.”

Looking me over, he turns in his chair intrigued. “You want what to be me?”

Biting my lips, I inhaled a deep breath and let it out. “Kiss me.” My words were soft and almost quiet.

“Kiss you? You searched me out for me to kiss you?” He shook his head and ran a hand down his face. “You need to go before we get caught. That nerd Scotty will be doing his rounds in another hour. I’ll take detention for you, but I don’t want people thinking –”

He glanced at his watch and back at me.
